with financial pressures, you owe it to yourself to take advantage of
the FREE services offered by Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Northern Nevada (CCCS).
Life
changing circumstances such as unemployment, medical emergencies, pay
reduction, or divorce can be overwhelming financially and emotionally.
Thousands of individuals and families are faced with financial
challenges every year and most do not know where to turn. Consumer
Credit Counseling Service of Northern Nevada will help you take control
of your finances in order for you to have financial peace of mind.
Financial Quiz! Each month when the time comes to pay your bills:
- Do you realize that you do not have enough money to pay what you owe?
- Do you juggle your creditors?
- Do you make only the minimum payments?
- Do you delay paying your bills until the next payday?
- Do you receive late fees from your creditors?
- Do you screen your phone calls to avoid talking to collectors for your creditors?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, we can help.
Consumer
Credit Counseling Service of Northern Nevada accredited counselors will
help you plan a monthly spending plan that fits your needs, and suggest
methods to improve money management and spending habits
When
needed, we can arrange a Debt Management Program (DMP) to help you pay
off your creditors at affordable payments. The DMP is a voluntary
program that serves a dual role: to help you repay your debts and help
creditors collect the money owed them. As incentive, many creditors
waive or reduce interest rates, over the limit credit fees and/or
monthly late fees for those in the DMP.
The
maximum fee ever required would be up to $25 monthly to service the
account and $25 to process the DMP paperwork. Most of our funding comes
from voluntarily contributions from creditors who participate in the
DMP. Since creditors have a financial interest in getting paid, most
are willing to make a contribution to help fund our Agency. These
contributions are usually calculated as a percentage of payments you
make through your DMP.
However, your accounts with your creditors will always be credited with
one hundred percent (100%) of the amount you pay through us, and we
will work with all your creditors regardless of whether they contribute
to our agency or not.
In
order to best determine your needs, we provide a questionnaire on which
personal income, living expenses, and consumer debt can be detailed.
With this information an Accredited Credit Counselor will be able to
help you plan a monthly spending plan. Counseling is available in
person at our Reno. Counseling is also by
phone or on-line.
